Channa Moong Dal ================ Simple and easy to prepare, but very nice side dish. Ingredients ----------- * 1/2 cup green moong dal * 1 tbsp. yellow channa dal * 2 cups water * 1 tbsp. ghee * 1/2 tsp. garam masala * 1 tsp. red chilli powder * 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder * 1/2 tsp. coriander powder * 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds * 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds * 2-3 cm. ginger, grated * salt to taste * 1/2 lemon * 1 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped Preparation ----------- * Cook the dals in 1 cup of the water with a pinch of turmeric until it's soft. * When done, put aside. * Mix the garam masala, chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder with 1/2 cup of water. * Heat the ghee on a low flame. * Add the cumin and mustard, allow to splutter. * Add the ginger and fry until light brown. * Pour in the ground masalas in water and fry for another minute. * Add the dal and remaining water and stir well. Bring to a boil. * Add the salt and lemon juice and stir. Garnish with chopped coriander.
